Fat Grafting for Volume (fat transplant or lipostructuring)
Fat grafting for volume is a surgical technique whose goal is to give volume back to the face using fat from your own body, which reduces the possibility of rejection.
Indeed, in most cases, even when people have not lost weight, their faces lose volume and seem to sag over time. This sagging causes hollows and shadows which make the face appear old.
In order to fight the phenomenon which occurs after 40, we perform a treatment called fat grafting. The fat that is transplanted comes from your own body. Most often it is taken from the lower half of the body (saddle bags or stomach) and is injected after it has been purified in a centrifuge.
This technique has been used for the last ten years and provides a good way to bring back former volume. The surgeon will ask you for old pictures, such as an old driving license, in order to see which zones of your face have lost volume.
The intervention generally takes place in outpatient surgery under a short course of anaesthesia.
Recovery is fairly simple, with a bit of bruising and moderate pain. Final results are archieved in 3 weeks.
Of course, as for all anti-aging facial procedures, it does not stop the aging process.
